I really wish that I had had more time to work on this photo challenge. I think that shadows are so unique and you can create some really artistic images using them. I would have loved to play with and create scenes with shadows rather than just taking photos of shadows and if I had more time before the end of the year I would definitely go back and spend some more time working on this photo challenge to create some really interesting and creative photos.
I am extremely proud of how these photos turned out! I was a little worried at first, I thought that capturing authentic emotions would be difficult. I thought that my photos would look staged and I felt awkward just following my friends around with a camera. The first few photos I took did turn out very awkward because my friends were very aware of the presence of the camera. After spending some more time with them I was able to sneak a shot in the middle of their sweet smiles and laughs. I really enjoyed taking these photos because the subject matter is important to me and I love capturing my friends unique and interesting personalities.
I love love love this photo! I think it really captures Vancouver in a new light. This building is clearly not in the best shape. You can see old parts, paint touch ups, and wear from years of use. This building has a very grungy look to it, and yet this photo is quite breathtaking. One of my goals for photography this year was to find and capture beauty in the ordinary. I think this image really embodies that vision. This photo is of 'nothing special' though it is quite stunning.
I am a little disappointed with how this photo challenge turned out. Some of the examples of Still Life Photography that I have seen are absolutely stunning. In comparison my photos are lacking. I really like the idea of this photo challenge but I found the execution was difficult. Maybe when I have some more time I will reattempt this challenge to hopefully produce some better photos. Of my three photos I think this one is the most interesting. It displays three pears that are badly bruised while they look to not be ripe yet. Ithink this photo has a really interesting mood and the shadows really add a unique feel to this image.
I had WAY too much fun with this photo challenge! I adore my precious fur baby and I absolutely loved following her around with my camera and taking photos of her. I don't think she enjoyed it near as much as I did, though she loved chasing the lights when I turned the flash on. This photo challenge made me realize how difficult it can be to take photographs of animals. They don't go where you want them to go and they are very determined to do their own thing. Photographing animals is a lot about luck, you have to just capture the right moment when its there because you can't create those moments.
I found this photo challenge to be super interesting. It forces you as the photographer to look for the connections with things on a deeper level. Once you have found a connection between your objects, you then have to think about how your subjects interact with each other. For this particular photo, the colours are a connection point. The purple background compliments the purple flower while the green of the stem works well with the colour of the marbles. These similarities really enhance the image, making it pleasing to the eye. On a deeper level, the green of the marbles mock the patterns of a flower, causing the marbles and the flowers to interact in a really meaningful way. The real flowers stand out in the group of man made objects. Both are quite beautiful, but attention is drawn to the real or true object in my image.
I really like the idea of this photo. I think it would have turned out a lot better if I had had three of the same size lipstick and the shades were more of a progression rather than the dark red-red- pink there is now. It would have been nice if they were all the exact same shape as well. I tried to fix the shape in photoshop but it did not look natural so I just left them as is. This photo was really hard to take because I had to find an angle that made it look like like the one in the front was the shortest/smallest and the back was the tallest/largest while in reality the two front lip sticks are the exact smae height.
As I was beginning to think about this challenge, I knew that I wanted to create a word that made my viewer feel something. I wanted my photos to create a powerful atmosphere. I started brainstorming powerful and beautiful words. I had many words but this one stuck out to me the most. Solitude. I think solitude is such a beautiful word. I tried to spell the word with all objects, except the I. I thought it added a lot to my photo to have the I be a person and the rest of the letters made of materials that are not interactive. I feel like this really helped create a feeling of solitude. I think the colour and cooling look to each letter really makes the word stand out even more.
I really love this photo challenge! I love winter because I think it allows us to see everything in a new way. Snow provides a clean, white covering on everything. It makes things appear new, pure, untouched, almost perfect. I was really disappointed with the amount of snow we got this year. I managed to get a few photos while we had snow, but had been hoping to get some better photos when the snow came back, and it never did. I had really wanted to get some macro photos on a nice camera but realized I would have to settle with these photos taken with my phone when the snow did not return.
I think this photo is really interesting. It did not turn out the way I expected it to but I still think it has a very cool effect. I thought capturing a balloon popping would make for a very intriguing action shot, and it did but the balloon did not react the way I had assumed it would. I expected an outward explosion with multiple pieces. I thought it was odd when I looked through all the photos I had taken to realize that every ballonn I had popped had stayed in on piece and kind of rolled up into itself to create an absract shape.
